This was made as a twin to my performance piece ‘Light Trap’. In Shadow Trap shards of emulsion from a variety of different films ( and film stocks) are applied to clear 35mm base material. The material was used at different densities in different combinations to create a changing dynamic rhythm throughout its duration. Sound is also created by the emulation dust in the area of the soundtrack – and can be mono, stereo or surround – depending on the cinema/projection equipment + set up.
