The seed of this piece is a book of poems bought in Johannesburg by my father in 1947 – ‘Selected Poems’ by Charles Baudelaire.
Scoeteography describes the art of writing in the dark – the technique used in this performance.
Baudelaire’s poem ‘Correspondances’ is reconstructed with dark incisions into film emulsion.
It can be thought of as a aural, textural and visual correspondence between the living and the dead.
A séance using two slide projectors with sonics generated by the mechanical and bodily movements involved.
